Fr Matthew talks about the Epiphany Season.
In this video, Fr Matthew gives us practical incites on Epiphany. He shares with us and discusses what the season is all about. Check out his thoughts!
Let’s look at the season.
According to the Episcopal Church Glossary, Epiphany is [a] season of four to nine weeks, from the Feast of the Epiphany (Jan. 6) through the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. The length of the season varies according to the date of Easter. The gospel stories of this season describe various events that manifest the divinity of Jesus.
On Epiphany, we celebrate the coming of the Magi, and the Sunday after, we observe the Baptism of our Lord.
The gospels for the other Sundays in this season include:
- The wedding at Cana
- The calling of the disciples
- And various miracles and teachings of Jesus.
- The last Sunday is always devoted to the Transfiguration.
Jesus’ identity as the Son of God is revealed dramatically in the Transfiguration gospel and the gospel of the baptism of Christ. Christ calls us to respond in faith by showing us His divinity, recorded in the gospels of the Epiphany season.
