Greetings to my Church family
It is hard to believe I have been with you for a year.
A bit about me. I am married to Lee for almost 37 yr and we’ve had 4 children. Our daughter Tiffany is married to Tim; they live in Appleton with our 2 older grandchildren, Tommy 14 and Maddy 11 in April. Our 2nd daughter, Julie Diane died of SIDS on 1/1/1979 at 10 ½ wk. and she has blessed our lives in many ways despite the brevity of her life. Our older son, Brad and his wife Amanda live in Burlington with our 4 younger grandchildren, Lexi 7 in March, Travis 5 in April, Julia LeeAnne 2 in May, and Lincoln,1 in July. Our younger son, Jonathan lives in Burlington with our Grand dog Zeus who is 4.
I have been a nurse for 25 years. I was a neonatal intensive care nurse at Good Shepherd Hosp. in Barrington IL., for 19 yr. before being chosen to do Parish Nursing in Lake Geneva almost 6 yr. ago. THAT is the story I’d love to share with you one on one, the story of HOW I became a Parish Nurse- a true God moment in my life. Parish Nursing has given me the perfect opportunity to combine my faith with my nursing skills, praying with and for my clients as well as educating them and bringing them to an understanding of how they are not just a body but body mind and spirit, connected in all ways and at all times.
I have been Parish Nurse at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva since June 2002 and until Dec. 2006 I was also Parish Nurse at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Lake Geneva. In Feb. 2007 I was blessed to be chosen to carry on the Parish Nurse ministry here at St. John the Divine. My ministry is truly your ministry and I will need your help and wisdom in continuing the integration of health and wellness with your faith that Parish Nursing is all about. Together we can honor God's gift to us of our bodies, minds and spirits.
I am available on Mondays in the office and for home visits. You may just drop by or call for an appointment. I will be at services twice a month and will be available after the 8AM service and after the 10 AM service to meet with you and/or take blood pressures.. You can leave a confidential message for me on the Parish Nurse Mailbox #24 and I will return your call within a reasonable length of time.
In addition to parish nursing with two congregations I am the Breast Care Coordinator for Aurora Memorial Hospital Burlington. If you see me at the hospital, please stop me and say 'hello.'
With God’s richest blessings and my love and prayers,
Maureen Redmer, RN
